ABOUT Schooled: Confessions of a Rookie Vice Principal

This humorous, romantic novel reads like memoir and entertains, while satisfying your curiosity about the world of public education.

Cynthia Walker, age thirty-five, leaves her teaching career to embark on her first administrative position as vice principal at Hamilton Middle School. She lacks confidence and wonders if she will succeed. Ride the roller coaster of her new job with Cynthia—the ups and downs, hilarity and angst of working with tweens. Watch her deal with bomb threats, fire, and pythons on the loose. Bullied kids and abusive parents. Dysfunctional homes and teachers who drink too much or don't notice paper airplanes flying across their rooms.

The greasy, narcissistic principal does little work, but tries to get close—is he hitting on her?   She meets Derek, the handsome and talented history teacher whom she’d like to date, if only she weren’t his supervisor. The first 8th grade dance, Halloween dress-up, holiday party, teachers' strike, Valentines, spring break, graduation—it’s all here in a story that will take you back to your own school days. It will make you laugh and will pull at your heartstrings.

Can Cynthia find a way to deal with her obnoxious boss? Will the students and teachers respect her? Join Ms. Walker as she finds her way, solidifies the inner strength she didn’t know was there, stands up for what she believes, and perhaps . . . finds a lasting love.
