Union Indígena and Napa Bookmine celebrate indigenous languages with story time and lotería in the Mixtec languages.
A 2022 UC Merced farmworker study reports that 38.6% of farmworkers in Napa and Sonoma counties speak an indigenous language at home. According to the United Nations, Indigenous Peoples make up less than 6% of the global population but speak more than 4,000 of the world's languages. One indigenous language dies every two weeks.
