Craig Smith // Lies That Bind @ Napa Library

Things go south for Police Officer Danny Garcia after he and his partner are involved in a fatal shooting. Garcia shows signs of PTSD, his girlfriend throws him out, and he’s taken off patrol and assigned to desk duty. Convinced that a priest at his church is somehow “dirty,” he bends the rules to investigate the man. His Chief has told him, in no uncertain terms, to leave the priest alone. But Danny just can’t do that. His partner, Sean, a young cop who’s a bit of a smart-ass, can’t get involved without risking his own career. If Danny is going to prove the priest’s guilt, he’s going to have to do so from his desk, relying on help from his estranged, alcoholic brother and a bishop who wants him thrown off the force.

Lies That Bind has won a Bay Area Independent Publishers award for fiction!

Craig Smith grew up in North Carolina, which explains the accent, southern manners, and why he's always telling stories. Not all of the stories are true, but they are usually entertaining.  He moved to California thirty-five years ago, met a woman way out of his league, and managed to get her to say "Yes." She's heard his stories more times than the commitment of marriage requires, so he started writing them down for others to read. If you aren't immediately grabbed by his storytelling, dialogue and sense of humor, keep reading - you will be.
